His projects have earned over 700 awards worldwide, with selections at more than 1,000 festivals, including OSCAR, GOYA, BAFTA and MÉLIÈS qualifiers. He is the winner of the Méliès d’Argent 2024, the Paul Naschy Award at the Sitges Film Festival 2020, the Audience Award at BIFFF 2021, and the TAC Terror Arreu de Catalunya Award (Best Catalan Short Film of the Year 2021), with official selections at festivals such as Málaga, Fantasia, Indy Shorts and Fantaspoa. He is currently developing his first feature film, MUTIS.

Jay Villalobos is a queer, Latina video artist focused on digital analog formats such as mini DV and
Hi-8. Her work explores the isolation and yearning that come with living in the digital age. By
hyper-focusing on unique digital texture, Villalobos aims to highlight the textile world we see in our
day-to-day life, and all the loneliness it brings. The focus on the digital world is also a means to
explore and further aesthetic and storytelling possibilities that are not possible in traditional
filmmaking. It is this way of thinking that allows Villalobos to explore a different visual grammar to
evoke feelings and thoughts about the digital world, and all the coldness that comes from it.
Villalobos’ works are ultimately about the transcendence of human emotions to the digital realm, how
the code around our lives becomes as much a part of being and souls as any other body part.

His native language is Italian, but he also works in Spanish and English.

Originally from Hyogo, Japan, currently residing in Canada. Born in the same year as “Robocop”, he spent his childhood immersed in movies, primarily action movies. His university studies in movie led him to produce numerous short and medium-length independent movies, establishing a style leaning towards B-movie horror. Later, leveraging his career as a VFX compositor, he moved to Canada, hoping to get closer to Hollywood. He currently continues to produce horror short films in Vancouver while seeking opportunities for feature-length projects. His solo production of “THE EGG” during the COVID-19 pandemic won several awards at U.S. horror movie festivals.

“Nightmares that taste like candy!” is the adopted mantra for Bob Hartshorn, a Leicester UK filmmaker/cartoonist/musician specialising in short form off-the-wall horror cinema.
Film work includes, canine terror Pet Sounds (2019), skewered dream odyssey ParasomniaX (2022), and Quicksilver Massacre Service (2025) – a surreal Wild West slasher where all is not quite as it seems.
Along with directing his own screenplays, he also serves his productions as animator, art director, costume designer, makeup fx artist, and composer.
Bob is currently preparing The Food Chainsaw – a mixed media horror short featuring a standoff between ‘Elevated Horror’ vs ‘Torture Porn’.

She has continued to make underground films, starting with winning the Jury Prize at the Student Cruelty Film Festival 2016 for her splatter action film “Niku no Kuni” and the Jury Prize at the Poop Film Festival the following year for her poop suspense film “Psyche”. After a short break following her Grand Prix win at the Poop Film Festival in 2020 for her poop horror film “Stool Doll” she launched the YouTube channel “San Channel” in 2024. This marked the resumption of her bizarre film releases, and the following year, in 2025, she won the VVR(Video Violence Releasing) Award at the New Cruelty Film Festival 2025 for her splatter bath film “Zoumotsu no Furo,” making a triumphant comeback.

Toni Hiltunen is a Finnish independent filmmaker and co-founder of Antiteatteri Film Crew, with more than 24 years of experience in underground and DIY cinema. Known for his hands-on approach to filmmaking, Hiltunen frequently works across directing, writing, cinematography, editing, practical effects, and production. His films combine action-driven splatter, horror-comedy, explosive practical effects, and war satire with a raw independent aesthetic rooted in Finnish cult cinema.

A regular contributor to the Trash & Underground Film Festival, Hiltunen has built a reputation for energetic low-budget filmmaking and uncompromising creative independence. In addition to short films, he has directed music videos for big Finnish bands. His notable works include Pallogrillin Palvojat and Kakkahätä.

A Tokyo-based film director and cinematographer originally from Russia. The artist name “O’Ren” means the image of beauty blossoming even amidst hard environments.

Currently, she is a doctoral student in the Aesthetics and Art Studies program at the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Humanities and Sociology, researching the relationship between “fear” and “laughter” in horror films.

Her works incorporate elements of psychological horror, the ridiculous, and dark humor, exploring themes such as human relationships and the vague emotions. She often handles the directing, screenwriting, cinematography, and editing of her films herself.

In 2026, she won the Grand Prize at the 6th TYO Student Movie Award for her film “Aka no Aida” (Between the Red Lights). The film was also screened at SSFF & ASIA 2026.

Drew Highlands is a film and stage actor, director, writer, and producer. He trained at Cornish College of the Arts, earning his BFA in stage acting with a focus on playwriting and directing. His debut short film, In the Water, an autobiographical coming-of-age story, was selected for 13 film festivals, including the Florida Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival, and HollyShorts, winning Best Dramatic Short at the Poulsbo Film Festival. In the Water was released on the indie platform Film Shortage, where it has garnered over 7 million views. His current short, The Mrs. Wolf Show, premiered at the Boston Underground Film Festival earlier this year and has screened at Panic Fest and the Chattanooga Film Festival later this year. He’s currently in post-production on his third short, 143, starring Lauren Weedman (Hacks, Looking, Euphoria). Obsessed with physical media from a young age while growing up in rural Mississippi, Drew tries to do other things with his life, like playing golf, grilling, and keeping social pace with his very extroverted wife — but mostly, all he wants to do is watch movies, talk about movies, and make movies. And of course, spend time with his rescue dog, Rhubarb.
